Nikon AW100, Nikon's 1st Ever Rugged Camera.

If you like the outdoors and you are in the market for a camera that's ready for action and adventure well here it is?

Nikon has just launched the Coolpix AW100, their first ever rugged camera!

Its waterproof to depths of 10 meters (around 33ft), shockproof from heights of up to 1.5 meter (Around 5ft) and freeze-proof for temperatures down to -10°C, so it may be the perfect camera designed specifically for the great outdoors?

Built in features such as GPS (Global Positioning System), an electronic compass and subject to country, a world map, which means you can easily geo-tag your images. This allows you the ability you to back tracking yourself to where you took the image.

The AW100 features are a Nikkor wide-angle 5x zoom lens, with Full HD (1080p) movie recording with stereo sound and four advanced blur-reduction functions to minimise the effects of subject movement, low light and camera shake.

The AW100 is packed with all the latest imaging technology you would expect from a Nikon Coolpix camera. Built to capture the action on land or sea, its highly sensitive 16 megapixel back illuminated CMOS sensor and dedicated low light modes are great for delivering stunning results under bright sunlight, at night or when diving underwater.

So whatever your outdoor passion is, day or night, the AW100 is the perfect companion for all of your adventures.

Along with orange and black, it’s also available in camouflage for those tricky nature shots (may vairy country to country / market).

We will be getting one, for planning our Landscape photography.

This hands-on video from Engadget which explains the new action button in the latest Nikon Coolpix AW100:
